In my experience a conscious relationship…
unfortunately is still just a theoretical possibility
but as novelty is an inherent quality of the nature of the universe
i have not yet ruled out the chance
Allowing a relationship to be your spiritual practice may involve a careful balance,
One hinged on presence, yet still, almost paradoxically,
provides some level of nurturing for the ego
You have to let the big dog out to run and play ….
so to speak
other wise it will be a distraction
sometimes at inopportune moments
when you really don’t need it to show up!!
In the interwoven threads of relationships
when the balance between the reality of presence
and the mind games of the ego
get out of balance a relationship becomes unstable….
the lack of presence in you or in your partner is robbed
by the drain of attention given to the temporal mind identified ego …
If you or your partner doesn’t understand this,
then you cannot see past the choice you don’t understand
however if one does understand that presence is a choice
and chooses not to be present with your partner
intentionally
even if you “stay” with your partner
your choice is to walking the path of life alone.

novelty ..is what it is all about
the universe is an engine for novelty
We are in a transitionary period now
dark as things appear
we exist in a dimensional moment of greater freedom and possibility
than has ever existed in the past …
yet
to all appearences the millstones of fate grind slowly
but they grind ever so fine..

what is it all about ??
The only point to all of this
Is to be there

The overcoming of fate….
Is achieved through the novel magic of presence
I have not been writing lately because as I began to write, I watched the things I was writing
And ego warning were going off… telling me I was living
largely unconnected … to the the state of presence,
Living in the images in my head…
I have lots of juicy rationalization as to why I have I have been unconscious
Running habitually on automatic and not present
but talking about those rationalizations, and blaming something external,
like the state of the world, our unconscious culture, politics or school..
Or even myself
Well blaming .. would be just another step … hip deep into the mess
I try to remember
The state of presence is regained by letting go,
gently without self reproach …
dis identifying and shedding away
the constantly forming self images that arise from the mind
and would seek to tell me
who I am
Who You are
beyond the models
beyond the mental noise of the mind
We exist as a momentary field of conscious presence
a screen of awareness that is one part of the whole
We are life experiencing .. aliveness
It yet it does not help to remember this
to regain presence I know I must
stop thinking about it and
be it

A self image is the time bound mind
distraction us away from presence
In just such a way even a self image of being a good christian
and trying hard to live according to the model
or living the image as a spiritual person
Trying hard to be here and now…
is missing the point entirely
You often finding yourself half way here and now
and half way hoping ….
Now will be here soon
All teachings are mere signposts to presence
Lots of traps on the spiritual path
to identify with one particular form or model of teaching is not required nor is it helpful
To identify with any particular one is entrapping
Watch your thoughts impartially

The voice of god?
Saul is working in his store when he hears a booming voice from above:
”Saul, sell your business.”
He ignores it. It goes on for days.
“Saul, sell your business for $3 million.”
After weeks of this, he relents, sells his store.
The voice says
‘Saul, go to Las Vegas.”
He asks why.
”Saul, take the $3 million to Las Vegas.”
He obeys, goes to a casino. Voice says,
“Saul , go to the blackjack table and put it down all on one hand.”
He hesitates but knows he must. He’s dealt an 18. The dealer has a six showing.
“Saul, take a card.”
What? The dealer has –
“Take a card!”
He tells the dealer to hit him. Saul gets an ace. Nineteen. He breathes easy.
“Saul, take another card.”
What?
“TAKE ANOTHER CARD!”
He asks for another card. It’s another ace.
He has twenty.
“Saul, take another card,”
the voice commands.
I have twenty! Saul shouts.
”TAKE ANOTHER CARD!!”
booms the voice. Hit me,Saul says.
He gets another ace. Twenty one.
The booming voice goes:
“un-fucking-believable!”

Freud said a lost of really nice things and one thing that he said was so many of our problems and our inability to live stem from the belief and we will never die. We think we have forever. If you thing about it in the back of your mind, you always think it’s the other person who dies, not you. Well I have news for you, We are all going to die! The is the most democratic thing that has ever happened. No matter who you are, how wealthy you are, how illustrious you are, how many degrees you have, how fouled up you’ve made your life, how beautiful you’ve made your life, you’re going to die.
But why fear it? You only fear death when you’re not living. If you’re involved in the process of life, you won’t wail and scream. If you’ve treated people in your life beautifully while they were alive, you will not throw yourself over thief caskets screaming, “Don’t go, Don’t Go!” For goodness sakes! We don’t even let people die in dignity. We let them die guilty by screaming, “Oh, please don’t die.”
What a weird concept we have of death. We don’t want to take children to funerals. Some of you had it explained that everything dies as flowers die in winter and then grow again. Death is a continuous beautiful process of life. Then when you’ve seen it, you don’t fear it, Death is a good friend, an awfully good friend, because it tells us we don’t have forever and that to live is now; therefore, you see how precious every minute is. We read it and say, “oh yes, that’s so true.” But do we live that way? How wonderful it is to be with the moment when you see a flower. When somebody is talking to you, for goodness sake, listen and don’t look over a shoulder at wheat else is going on. Cocktail time. There’s no greater insult. If you don’t want to be with me, don’t be with me! That’s all right, I can adjust to that. But if you are going to be with me, will you be with me? You say, I am going to look at the ocean.” Do you look at the ocean? “Oh, isn’t that a beautiful sunset.” Do you mean it, do you see it, do you recognize it will never come again?
Death teaches us–if we want to hear–that the time is now. The time is now to pick up a telephone and call the person that you love. Death teaches us the joy of the moment. It teaches us we don’t have forever. If teaches us that nothing is permanent, It teaches us to let go, there’s nothing you can hang on to. And it tells us to give up on expectations and let tomorrow tell its own story, because nobody knows if they’ll get home tonight. To me that’s a tremendous challenge. Death says, “Live now.”

When the disciples asked for a model of spirituality
that they could imitate,
all that the Master said was:
“Hush! Listen.”
And as they listened to the sounds
of the night outside the monastery,
the Master softly intoned the celebrated haiku:
Of an early death
Showing no awareness

at the daily miracles of your life, your pain
would not seem less wondrous than your joy.”

It will not lead you astray.

Many years ago, in a poor Chinese village, lived a peasant with his son. His only material good, besides the land and his little straw hut, was a horse he had inherited from his father. One good day the horse run away leaving the man without a horse to till the land. His neighbors who respected him for his honesty and diligence came to his home to let him know how much they regretted what happened. He thanked the visit, but asked:
“How would you know that what happened has been a misfortune in my life?”
Somebody commented in a low voice to a friend:
«”He doesn’t want to accept reality, let him think what he wants, as long as he doesn’t get sad with what has happened».”
And the neighbors went away, feigning to be in agreement with what they had heard.
A week later, his horse came back to the stable, but he was not alone: He brought with him a beautiful mare as company. After knowing this the inhabitants of the village overjoyed, because only now they understood the answer the man had given them, returned to the peasant’s home to congratulate him for his good luck.
“Before you had just one horse, now you have two. Congratulations!”
they said.
”Thank you very much for your visit and your solidarity answered the peasant. But, how do you know that what happened to me is a blessing in my life?”
Confused, and thinking the man was turning insane, the neighbors walked away, commenting on the road:
«Is it possible that this man does not understand that God sent him a gift?»
A month had passed, the peasant’s son decided to tame the mare. But the animal jumped in an unexpected way, and the boy had a bad fall breaking a leg. The neighbors came back to the peasant’s home taking with them presents for the wounded youth. The major of town, solemnly, presented his condolescences to the father saying that all were very sad for what had happened. The man thanked the visit and everybody’s affection. But he asked:
How can you know if what happened has been a misfortune in my life?
This sentence left everybody astonished, since nobody could have the least doubt that an accident of his son is a true tragedy. When leaving the peasant’s home they commented among themselves:
«Really he is becoming crazy; his only son may end up lame forever and he still has doubts that what has happened is a tragedy».
Some months passed and Japan declared war to China. The emissaries went through the country looking for healthy boys to be sent to the battle front. When arrived to the village drafted all the young ones except the peasant’s son who was with his broken leg. None of the boys returned alive. His son recovered, the two animals gave a litter that was sold and gave good money. The peasant went to visit his neighbors to console them and help them, since they had shown solidarity with him at all times. Always when any of them complained the peasant said:
How do you know if this is a tragedy?
If somebody was too happy, he asked:
How do you know if that is a blessing?
And the men of that village finally got the point.
