“Business Ethics“
my favorite oxymoron of the moment
Do We torture a captured suspected terrorist
because it may save lives?
Apply the first rule
Any ethical position must pass the test of ..
Present moment validation.
In other words.
Take no action now
That uses past and future justifications
In order to validate it’s necessity
The short version
If it isn’t right now
Don’t fucking do it
Woops did I say that word
Yep I did
…emphatically
Colonel: Marine, what is that button on your body armour?
Joker: A peace symbol, sir.
Colonel: Where’d you get it?
Joker: I don’t remember, sir.
Colonel: What is that you’ve got written on your helmet?
Joker: “Born to Kill”, sir.
Colonel: You write “Born to Kill” on you helmet, and you wear a peace button. What’s that supposed to be, some kind of sick joke?
Joker: No, sir.
Colonel: Well what is it supposed to mean?
Joker: I don’t know, sir.
Colonel: You don’t know very much do you?
Joker: No, sir.
Colonel: You better get your head and your ass wired together or
I will take a giant shit on you.
Joker: Yes, sir.
Colonel: Now answer my question, or you’ll be standing tall before The Man.
Joker: I think I was trying to suggest something about the duality of man sir.
Colonel: The what?
Joker: The duality of man, the Jungian thing, sir.
Colonel: Who’s side are you on, son?
Joker: Our side, sir.
Colonel: Don’t you love your country?
Joker: Yes, sir.
Colonel: Well how about getting with the program?
Why don’t you jump on the team and c’mon in for the big win?
Joker: Yes, sir.
Colonel: Son, all I’ve ever asked of my Marines is for them to obey my orders as they would the word of God.
We are here to help the Vietnamese because inside every gook,
there is an American trying to get out.
It’s a hardball world, son.
We’ve got to try to keep our heads until this peace craze blows over.
Joker: Aye aye, sir.
Some things do change
And some things don’t

Full Metal Jacket was on tv within the last month. I’ve never fully learned to appreciate that movie, but some of the lines (such as the ones you cited above) are memorable.
I did not enjoy watching the movie at all either!!!:(
I have a question for you if you don’t mind.
Has America beheaded any prisioners at the prison camp in Cuba?
Where is the outcry to the injustice and the suffering of American Soldiers whose bodies were multilated, beheaded, burned beyond recognition?
:whocares:
have you noticed how all the definitions keep changing. as terrorist was never used until recently. now we have “domestic” terrorist instead of whatever it was they were called before (this thought was unformed in my head so it sounds silly now that i write it out).
^^ as for born to golfs comment… do we have to be as bad as others to be doing something horrible? we can’t be less innocent or more guilty… it’s a blanket statement you’re either innocent or guilty. i think. (this is also an unformed though and now sounds silly as well)
maybe i should just be quiet today?
Namaste (-*-)
I don’t condone any taking of life
No matter who does it…
Period
But let’s put this into perspective shall we…
America has killed OVER 100 000 thousand people in Iraq…
In a war …. which we say is against terror…
But every one in the world EXECPT the American people
Knows is about control of the worlds oil supply
I don’t think any of the dead we killed are now are in possession of their LIFE
Much less their heads.
If we want people to stop killing Americans
We need to stop stealing the world resources ..
And if you believe we aren’t doing this
Look at the math
Now give or take a few percent
America has 5 percent of the world’s population
And we use 40 percent of the world’s oil and non-renewable resources
This in a world that is dominant by people who live in abject poverty
I love Americans I really do …we are good a people…
We are just so totally Allowing ourselves to be mislead….
that we are beginning to closely resemble another group of basically good people from the past.
The German people in 1930…
I wanted to see exotic Vietnam… the crown jewel of Southeast Asia. I wanted to meet interesting and stimulating people of an ancient culture… and kill them. I wanted to be the first kid on my block to get a confirmed kill!
parris island, the place of phony toughs and crazy braves..
heh, I always loved that movie…
what’s even sicker than the fact that America controls most of the resources, is the fact
that there’s an elite ruling class that controls the majority of.. everything.

Germany in the 1930′s.. that’s a great analogy. Meh, if I wasn’t so wrapped up in
boot camp reverie I could make a reponse to what you’re really saying here. But
I understand it, rest assured. The meditation did me good. Thanks for it, man.
PS — heh, hear about the British setting up surveillance towers that boom “WE’RE WATCHING
YOU” whenever they notice citizens committing a crime? Umm.. can we say “orwellian
nightmare?” Maybe the US will have too large of a war debt to implement some creepy
shit like that. source: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/11/17/tech/main1054526.shtml
“It’s kind of a forced accountability,” said Anderson, the camera’s designer. “You tend to be more accountable if someone’s watching.
*shudders* M i c, k e y, m o u s e…
There are some movies and songs that can only hit you in your heart, that one is definately one. Put it with Hair, Patton, and a few choice others and you have the makings of everything lifes about. But is it worth the cheap joke that there is always some drama that leads to war on a he said, she said basis? I dont get it all the time lol…..

I was getting ready to have at someone who was completely illogical…something about beheading people etc ,but then I read your comment and I could not have said it better. Excellent post(although quite an ugly truth ) and kudo’s for your response.
Wow~all the way around~
just to lazy to unwrap them. when you gonna start selling, and whats with the llamas. you got a thing for them like I got for red ass monkeys.
yes its soo true and the rest of the world..the way they view us… it might be suprising to some Americans…our schools have fallen way behind… it is frigthening but we all need to take action towards something in the now that enriches us all
