    The Ten Major Principles

    of the

    Gnostic Revelation

From Exegesis, by Philip K. Dick

The Gnostic Christians of the second century believed that only a special revelation of knowledge rather than faith could save a person. The contents of this revelation could not be received empirically or derived a priori.

a priori is used in philosophy to refer to a type of knowledge that is independent of experience or non-empirical.

They considered this special gnosis so valuable that it must be kept secret. Here are the ten major principles of the gnostic revelation:

            1. The creator of this world is demented.

(Ok some evidence exists for this suggestion)

    {yin-yang dualism~causality  }

    1. 2.The world is not as it appears, in order to hide the evil in it, a delusive veil obscuring it and the deranged deity.

    2. ( Agree but I don’t see much of a veil?)

    3. 3. The past and the future veil the present moment  form our sight and we are  the  deity that is our collective consciousness

    4.

    5. (full marks on this point, and extra credit even!!)

    8.

    9.

    10. 4. There is another, better realm of God, and all our efforts are to be directed toward returning there  bringing it here

    11. (hum… a better world in th future?

    12. 5. Our actual lives stretch thousands of years back, and we can be made to remember our origin in the stars.
    13. (the information exchange through our morphic resonance link to the conscious energy field explains this nicely)

    14. 6. Each of us has a divine counterpart unfallen who can reach a hand down to us to awaken us. This other personality is the authentic waking self; the one we have now is asleep and minor. We are in fact asleep, and in the hands of a dangerous magician disguised as a good god, the deranged creator deity. The bleakness, the evil and pain in this world, the fact that it is a deterministic prison controlled by the demented creator causes us willingly to split with the reality principle early in life, and so to speak willingly fall asleep in delusion.
    15. (a religious interpretation of the contrast between unconscious egoic mind and your conscious presence?)

    16. 7. You can pass from the delusional prison world into the peaceful kingdom if the True Good God places you under His grace and allows you to see reality through His eyes.

    17. (anthropomorphizing ia a common trend in all attempts to explain religious experiences… check minus for this one… maybe?
    18. Stay on the path .. become present in your life..and  you will know for yourself  “His?” grace and “His” eyes…are found as one within  your own presence )

    19. 8. Christ gave, rather than received, revelation; he taught his followers how to enter the kingdom while still alive, where other mystery religions only bring about amnesis: knowledge of it at the “other time” in “the other realm,” not here.

    20. ( Yes…. the kingdom is here and now)

    21.  He causes it to come here, and is the living agency to the Sole Good God (i.e. the Logos).  Probably the real, secret Christian church still exists, long underground, with the living Corpus Christi as its head or ruler, the members absorbed into it. Through participation in it they probably have vast, seemingly magical powers.

    22. (???)

    23. 9. The division into “two times” (good and evil) and “two realms” (good and evil) will abruptly end with victory for the good time here, as the presently invisible kingdom separates and becomes visible. We cannot know the date.

    24. (the end of duality …is this pointing? to the transformation of human consciousness from it’s current state of  dominance by the egoic mind)

    25. 10. During this time period we are on the sifting bridge being judged according to which power we give allegiance to, the deranged creator demiurge of this world or the One Good God and his kingdom, whom we know through Christ.

    26. (this one needs serious work but if you remove the idea of judgment and factor in the karma of responsibility of our misguided intentions it almost works  )

To know these ten principles of Gnostic Christianity is to court disaster.
    (really according to whom?)

don’t we already have disaster firmly in our court?

  • am a bit lost  between good gods and bad gods:shysmile:

about the devil…hmmm…if religions didn’t have him…what would be the purpose of the holy books???: and religion itself???

    am tired…bye…be good:sunny:

  • I have to agree with you in terms of your take on this ..Demented is a strong word and calls to mind clever and manic with a mean streak but a most wicked sense of humor and looking at what i see in creation it fits.RYC I was kind of laughing at myself this morning..how i kept tweaking that thing…I finally decided maybe it really was that green and fixed it…but now its done…done I say…..

  • Hmmm, I just enjoyed 1.5 hours of seminar discussion on the gnostic gospels of mary & thomas and also the sophia of jesus. I was saddened by their theory that there was a highest god, silence, that eminated other subgods to run things on its behalf and that one of those subgods took matters into its own hands, and gave birth to our flawed world. Shame that christians don’t enjoy gnostic thought (despite the fact that their followers keep developing it despite the censorship) as it would ruin my favourite religious game – asking christians ‘why god created evil’.
Also, the thought that jesus’ grace is knowledge and truth – and the eastern focus on developing oneself – it was enjoyable spelunking into this faith. I’m just not quite sure that I’m ready to embrace androgyny before I can understand the truth, but the thought of worshiping a female wisdom (sophia) does appeal to me.

  • have you ever read bringers of the dawn? i never got all the way through it, but there were some ideas brought out in it that reminds me of #6 ~~ i can always count on you to tweak with my mind when i am contemplating similar ideas…thanks (i think…lol) DS

  • All I know is that it is a lovely September Day~Breezes and all~

  • Philip K Dick..

yeah. this reinforces my belief that he was batshit MF’n crazy.

How did he even come across these relevations? Did VALIS/God/Zebra tell him?

Exegesis is an 8,000 page journal kept by science fiction writer Philip K. Dick, documenting his alleged communication with a God/VALIS/”Zebra” entity. Sections range from extensive and brilliant philosopical commentary to troubled and psychotic ramblings. Dick was a student of philosophy and religion, which has a clear impact on his writings

    Man.

    This guy was /out there/

I’ve read one’ve his books, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? it was pretty cool.

  • i’m probably not of an open mind to talk about “religous” and “spiritual” things right now but i will put my two sence in for now. I think you have to have a sence of “right” and “wrong” right now. there’s so many people going crazy not the good kind where they all of a sudden deside to do something to turn the evil inside themselves onto other people. like in the cases of kids shooting up schools or other places. they have hate inside themselves and let it out on the world of innocent people. i mean this is a big subject and probably off the actual subject your talking about.
anyway i am going back to sleep i just knew i wouldn’t sleep soundly until i knew what you posted. for some reason i’m addicted.

  • I think #6 could be an explaination of a dream I had last night.  I found myself in the form of my car as I encountered a mirror double of myself.  I was puzzled at how this could be since I always thought we were all unique creations.  Yet here I was looking at myself in wonder.   Very odd but I know there is an important revelation there since it grabbed my attention causing me to really contemplate it’s significance.   I am still thinking about it.

The rest of what you were saying raises too many questions in me so sounds way too complicated.   In my present state of confusion and apathy it sounds much like hocus pocus, and mumbo jumbo.  Please don’t be offended or take it personally.   It is totally because of my own damaged state of mind that is under massive reconstruction,  that I am making these comments.

What is the point of all the secrets and head games and why can’t our creator just cut through the crap and help us get it together with what we are supposed to be doing here.  It must be a demented god that drags us over the coals and lets evil have it’s way with us.   Who is really responsible for all the bullshit?  Us or our evil doubles or what?  What becomes of those who can’t get it or figure it out?

In a sincere effort to grasp understanding of any concept that is new to me I try to keep an open mind.  That way what sounds too complicated today could very well become that much needed revelation of tomorrow.  So thank you.  I can always count on you for intelligent stimulation.

I found this link relating to what you are saying but I will have to come back to you when I am in a more receptive mood.  Forgive me for my desity please. http://www.gnosis.org/ecclesia/lectsophia5.htm

  • :rolleyes::lookaround::sunny:

  • btw could the bushwhacker look any more ridiculous?  What the hell was he doing? LOL:lol:

  • I get most what you said, after reading it a few times, but Philip K Dick?  Well maybe the revelation is in the name.

  • Yep, you just about covered everything I’ve learned in my studies of gnosticism. :coolman: There are many Christians, who are naught Gnostic, who believe the Kingdom is NowHere, hence the name of the Creator as revealed to Moses – “Haya” – “I-AM” – “To Be.” One day all will know, and my best guess is that all of us will be saying, “Hunh? But… say what?”

Grace & peace be with you,
    Steve :spinning:

  • The gnostic gospels as testimonies had many interesting points that were so flatly dismissed and should not have been. I have read some of the translations and they echo more current events on point then the church does even now. Perhaps they earn closer scrutiny…

  • Great read and as usual, thought provoking.  Thanks.

  • question what do lamas have to do with the gnostic faith? wouldnt donkeys be a better representation? Christs mother did ride one before his birth…..:fun:

    ~Lucky

  • :spinning:  i can amen # 5   you ?    hope you are well talk to you soon   love  b
